Background
McElwaine Electrical was established in 1980, and now operates 5 divisions, with the latest division, McElwaine SMART Technologies Ltd. involved in social alarms and domiciliary health care. The business now employs 120 people and is a significant player throughout NI, the UK and Ireland.

The Company has recently agreed a strategic alliance with a German technology firm Bosch, to collaborate on a range of research and development commercialisation projects. Bosch is the leading provider of ‘social alarm’ devices for homes of those who require health care monitoring where users receive help at the touch of a button. Social alarms have been used in Germany for over 25 years and provide a means for people to live independently whilst still being able to rely on help in an emergency.

McElwaine SMART Technologies Ltd, in partnership with the University of Ulster, has established a Knowledge Transfer Partnership, sponsored by Invest Northern Ireland, and is offering an exciting opportunity for a graduate or mature Student to work as a KTP Associate in the field of Home Telecare and Health Monitoring. This partnership will harness the capacity of the company to respond appropriately to the needs of the rapidly expanding domiciliary health care.

Project Objectives
The objectives of this project are for you to gather information identifying existing technologies, devices and focus on the various individuals needs and requirements.
You will be expected to work with Occupational Therapists, Social Services and workers, Health Boards, Patient and families, along with technology companies that currently provide devices and solutions to this industry.
From the information gathered you will then be able to review McElwaine Smart Technologies existing systems and devise a Programme of work to Integrate and/or develop an integrated remote health monitoring service solution, utilising and developing technologies to support independent living.

Skill requirements:
- Applicants should hold a degree or higher degree in Software computing or a related discipline.
- In addition to this the successful applicant will possess excellent communication skills and should be able to network with a wide variety of people.
- They should be a self starter, self motivated, able to demonstrate initiative and have the necessary personal skills to work in a small team environment.
- Any Business Analysis and Software Development work experience would be a distinct advantage.
- Exposure to Programming languages such as .NET would be a distinct advantage.

The Associate will be appointed initially for a period of three years and will be based in McElwaine SMART Technologies Ltd in Lisnaskea.

Salary will be circa £24,000 per annum but may be enhanced to attract the best candidate.
